China`s action politically motivated: Tibetan Government-in-Exile

Dharamsala, July 5 -- Reacting angrily to recent selection of incarnate monk through "golden urn procedure", Tibetan-government-in-exile on Monday termed Chinese government's action "politically motivated". Two days ago,Losang Doje, was recognized as the sixth incarnation of Gyalrong Dedrug Rinpoche through lot draw system in presence of Bainqen Erdini Qoigyijabu, Chinese appointed 11th Panchen Lama at Jhokang temple in Tibet. Tibetan -government-in exile, charged the Chinese government of using the religious figures for political purpose. Tibetan religious affair department described the selection as politically motivated. "Recognizing the incarnations of Lamas(Trulkus) is a unique Tibetan practice related with Buddhism. It has nothing to do with politics" said the Religious Affair department of Tibetan-government-in- exile. Religious department called for following the traditional way of selecting reincarnate of the Dedrug Rinpoche with consent of Gaden throne holder, the head of Gelug School of Buddhism. Tibet's exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama belongs to the Gelug sect. Tibetan-government-in exile denounced the religious regulation issued by China, which makes it mandatory for the reincarnate lamas to seek approval from the government. "Regulation on Management Measures for the Reincarnation of Living Buddhas in Tibetan Buddhism by transgressing the bounds of both religion and politics" said the department of Religion and Cultural affairs here in a release.
