Two Naxals held in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Jul 6 (PTI) Two Naxals have been arrested from Kanker district of Chhattisgarh following an encounter with CRPF personnel in Karkapal forest area, police said today. Hemlal and Sukhlal were apprehended yesterday by CRPF jawans after the ultras fired at the security personnel in the jungles in Badgaon during a patrol in the area, Kanker Superintendent of Police Ajay Yadav said. The Naxals, who tried to flee the spot, were held after retaliatory firing by the CRPF. A large number of arms were also recovered from them. Two countrymade revolvers, 15 bullets, empty cartridges, several hand grenades and Rs 51,000 was recovered from the duo, Yadav said. Both the Naxals were being questioned and police suspect one of them to be a local area ''commander''. The duo will be produced in a local court for remand, police added.
