Pepper, jeera rise on fresh buying

New Delhi, July 6 (PTI) Black pepper and jeera prices today rose up to Rs 300 per quintal in the wholesale market here on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters. Black pepper prices rose by Rs 300 to settle at Rs 19,100-19,200 per quintal. Jeera common and jeera best quality also increased by Rs 100 to finish at Rs 12,800-13,100 and Rs 13,900-14,100 per quintal. Traders said sentiments turned better following rising demand from exporters and firming trend at futures market. Following are today''s quotations (per quintal): Ajwain 14,000-19,000, black pepper common 19,100-19,200, betelnut (kg) 85-105, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 775-780 and cardamom brown -Kanchicut (kg) 875-1000. Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,175-1,350, cardamom (colour robin) 1,435-1,450, cardamom bold 1,460-1,480, cardamom extra (bold) 1,600-1,620 and cloves (kg) 295-375.
