Ashapura to start work on Rs 4,300-cr alumina project soon

New Delhi, July 19 (PTI) The Mumbai-based metals and mining company Ashapura Minechem today said it will soon tie up funds and start construction for its Rs 4,300-crore alumina refinery in the Kutch district of Gujarat. The company said it has appointed Centrum Capital as debt arrangers for the project. Mecon has prepared a revised techno-economic feasibility report as per which the cost of the project is Rs 4,300 crore out of which Rs 2,866 crore will be the debt component. "The company is already in talks with several banks and expects to achieve financial closure shortly," the company said in a statement. The metals and mining company further said it is awaiting allocation of land for the project for starting the construction work of the 1-million tonne per annum alumina refinery in the Kutch. "As soon as the land is allocated, Ashapura Aluminium will start the construction activity," it added. Chinese firm Chalieco is the technology partner for the project. Chalieco is a subsidiary of Chinese firm Chalco. PTI SCV NAM.
