BoB eyeing Rs 11k cr biz from northern region in FY``11

Chandigarh, July 19 (PTI) Public sector lender Bank of Baroda today said that it is eyeing a total business of Rs 11,000 crore from the northern region in the current fiscal, with focus on the farm, SME and retail segments. It will also open 14 new branches by the end of December. "We are aiming at business of Rs 11,000 crore from our region, which includes Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh in this fiscal against total business of Rs 8,500 crore in the last fiscal," Bank of Baroda Deputy General Manager S K Goyal told reporters here today. Aiming at a growth of over 20 per cent in business, the bank expects to rake in Rs 6,500 crore through deposits and Rs 4,500 crore from advances. "Our main focus will be on agriculture, SME, retail and small borrowers for disbursing loans in this fiscal," he said. At present, the bank has maximum exposure of Rs 1,400 crore in the retail segment, followed by Rs 700 crore in the SME segment. To expand its branch network, the bank has plans to open 14 more branches in this region. "Out of the new branches, 12 branches will be opened in Punjab and Haryana and the maximum of them will be opened in rural and semi-urban areas," he said. Initially, the bank is going to open new branches at Ropar, Muktsar and Dhuri in Punjab and Saha and Pinjore in Haryana, besides Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, to commemorate its 103rd Foundation Day tomorrow. "All new branches will offer all types of loans, including housing loan, car loans, education loans, farm loans and SME loans," he said. Bank of Baroda has 102 branches in the northern region, comprising Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh.
