DJB cuts water rates for 3 months in slums, resettlement areas

New Delhi, July 13 (PTI) Delhi Jal Board today decided to cut down water tariff for next three months for those residing in various slum clusters and resettlement colonies till they install electronic water metres. A DJB official said the decision was taken following representation from various slum clusters and resettlement colonies requesting the DJB to cut down rates. As per new rates a consumer residing in the ground or first floor and having monthly consumption of 10 kilo litre will have to pay Rs 82 while a consumer having a total of two floors and consumption of 20 kilo litre monthly will be charged Rs 164 instead of current Rs 180. Any consumer having three-floors in his flat and having a total consumption of 30 kilo litre will be charged Rs 246 instead of current Rs 470 while Rs 328 will be charged per month from any consumer having four floors in his flat and a total consumption of 40 kilo litres. The official said the rates will be valid for next three months as all the consumers staying in these colonies will have to install water meters within the period.
