Pratapgarh (UP), Jul 6 (PTI) Sanjay Dutt''s "jaadu ki jhappi" remarks against UP Chief Minister Mayawati during an election campaign last year continue to haunt the cine star, as a local court today directed him to appear in person before it on September 25 in connection with the case. Chief Judicial Magistrate Manjula Sarkar while hearing the case said that it was a serious issue and the accused has also not secured bail. The court has asked for the personal appearance of the cine star on September 25 next, Dutt''s counsel J N Singh said. Earlier, the summons issued by the court served on Dutt were received by his wife, Manyata, in Mumbai. According to the prosecution, at an election rally on April 16, 2009 here, Dutt, the then Samajwadi Party general secretary, had offered a "jaadu ki jhappi" to the chief minister while commenting on her style of functioning. The district administration had lodged an FIR against Dutt at the kotwali police station under section 294 of the IPC (obscene acts and songs). The film star is reportedly out of the country in connection with his shooting schedule.
