Exchange of fire between Maoists & Orissa, Andhra police

Malkangiri (Orissa), July 23 (PTI) A gunbattle broke out between Maoists and security personnel of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh at Dejangwada and Tekwada forests of Malkangiri district tonight. "The area is inaccessible and we are waiting for the team to return. Then only, the casualties or injured from both the sides could be ascertained," Superintendent of Police, Malkangiri, Anirudh Singh told PTI. Andhra Pradesh Grey Hound and Orissa''s Special Operation Group (SOG) jawans jointly conducted the offensive after getting information that some Maoists are camping in the jungle. When they opened fire, the rebels also retaliated. Some arms and ammunitions had been seized, the SP added. PTI COR SKN RG.
