Kannur, Jul 26 (PTI) Forward Bloc today demanded a ban on radical outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) in Kerala in the wake of its alleged involvement in the chopping off the hand of a college lecturer earlier this month. By indulging in terror activities, the PFI had tried to harm the existing communal harmony and religious amity, National Secretary, Forward Bloc, G Devarajan told reporters here. On Chief Minister Achuthanandan''s controversial statement that PFI was aiming at "Islamisation of Kerala", he said the statement was not against the Muslim community as the CM had criticised the PFI and not the Muslim community as a whole. He said the Chief Minister had concrete information about the PFI activities, which was causing great concern. Forward Bloc will observe August 9 as ''desa sneha prathinja'' (pledge to love one''s country) in Kerala, he said. Devarajan also demanded that the biography of Subhas Chandra Bose should be included in the school curriculum. He refuted the allegation of former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee in his book that the CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat was ''arrogant and intolerant''. He said his party will have its own candidates for the local body elections in Kerala.
