New Delhi, Jul 19 (PTI) The Delhi High Court today issued a contempt notice to the Registrar and the Deputy Registrar Co-operative Societies for their repeated failure to comply with its direction to hold the draw for allotment of flats in more than 50 societies. A Division Bench of Justice A K Sikri and Justice Reva Khetrapal sought their reply by July 29 on a batch of petitions filed by a group of societies here. Earlier, the Bench had asked RCS (Registrar of Co-operative Societies) that thousands of genuine flat allottees were waiting to take possession and it should therefore speed up its scrutiny. The court had also sought a comprehensive status report form RCS as to why it was lagging behind after CBI gave clearance. Acting on the basis of a CBI clean chit, the court had granted permission to RCS to hold a draw of lots so that original allottees in some societies could get possession of their houses at the earliest. The court had ordered a CBI inquiry into the functioning of RCS following a scam involving its officials and the society members in 2006. PTI PNM i ATP.
