New Delhi, Jul 6 (PTI) Heavy rains lashed the capital today keeping the mercury on the lower side but a higher humidity as well as waterlogging in many areas spelt trouble for the Delhiites. The rain gauges in the city measured 15.8 mm between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm while it recorded 1.6 mm during 5:30 pm yesterday and 8:30 am today. Since Sunday, the city has received 75.7 mm of rains. The monsoon had hit the city yesterday after playing truant for a week. The city had missed its usual June 29 date with the seasonal rains phenomenon this year. The rains also brought trouble to the citizens as many areas witnessed waterlogging. Vehicular movement was affected in some parts of the capital due to waterlogging, including Rohini, Chirag Dilli, Dwarka, Najafgarh and Ashram. The MCD Control Room received 55 complaints of waterlogging and four complaints of falling of trees. The maximum was recorded at 32.7 degrees Celsius while the minimum was recorded at 25.8 degrees, two notches below normal. Humidity was recorded at higher levels. The maximum was recorded at 95 per cent and the minimum 75 per cent. The Met department said the weather will remain cloudy and the city is likely to receive a few spells of rain tomorrow.
