IFFCO``s phosphoric acid plant in Orissa crosses 100pc capacity

New Delhi, July 13 (PTI) Leading fertiliser cooperative major IFFCO today said its Paradeep unit in Orissa has for the first time crossed 100 per cent capacity utilisation of phosphoric acid plant. On July 10, the plant produced 2,700 tonnes of phosphoric acid against the installed capacity of 2,650 tonnes per day, it said in a statement. "We have achieved significant improvement in capacity utilisation, despite certain constraints, including original design deficiencies," Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) Managing Director U S Awasthi said. The 100 per cent capacity utilisation of the plant will enhance the production of Complex fertilisers in India, which will be beneficial for Indian farmers, he said. In FY''10, despite raw material constraints, IFFCO produced 4.62 lakh tonnes of phosphoric acid at its Paradeep unit, which was acquired in 2005 from Oswal Chemicals, he said. "After acquisition, IFFCO has maintained its pace for revamping the entire complex to make it yet another efficient running units of IFFCO," Awasthi said. IFFCO Paradeep is now the country''s largest phosphatic fertilizer complex with world''s largest single stream phosphoric acid plant.
