INA Metro to provide impetus to commerce

News posted by www.newsinfoline.com

New Delhi, July 26 -- Ever since they were connected with the Delhi Metro, commercial activities in the Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazar and Gaffar Market in Karol Bagh got a major boost. Now, the Delhi Metro is all set to give a similar fillip to south Delhi's commercial activities. South Delhi markets are likely to get a shot in the arm once the INA Metro station becomes operational on the Central Secretariat - Qutub Minar-HUDA City Centre line. Tourist inflow to Delhi's favourite cultural hangout, Delhi Haat is also likely to increase. The line is expected to be ready in August. INA Metro station will cater to the four biggest markets of Delhi-INA, Sarojini Nagar, Hauz Khas and Yusuf Sarai markets. Besides, the residents of the nearby Laxmi Bai Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, and some parts of Safdarjung Enclave will also be benefited enormously, said Delhi Metro officials. "We will get customers from across Delhi and Gurgaon in large numbers. Our business activities will get a boost with the opening of the INA Metro Station," said Shankar Rastogi, a garment trader in Sarojini Market. However, Praveen Khandelwal, General Secretary, Delhi Traders' Association, said business growth will be possible only if connectivity between metro stations and markets is improved. "As on date, the markets are not conveniently connected. If connectivity is improved, the new metro line will be instrumental for growth in business by at least by 20 per cent," said Khandelwal.
