Bhubaneswar, Jul 8 (PTI) Affirming its commitment to the megal steel project by South Korean firm Posco, Orissa government said the rehabilitation package for affected people would be finalised at a meeting today despite announcement by a section of local leaders to boycott the event. "The RPDAC (Rehabilitation and Peripheral Development Advisory Committee) is meeting at Jagatsinghpur this evening to finalise rehabilitation package for the people to be affected by Posco project," Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told newsmen after reviewing progress in the Posco project. The review meeting attended by local MLAs and officers, including Chief Secretary T K Mishra, Revenue Divisional Commissioner, Central Division P K Mohapatra and Jagatsinghpur district collector N C Jena, decided to unveil rehabilitation package without delay in order to speed up the project. While the state government was keen to announce the rehabilitation package, Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS), the body opposing the project since the South Korean steel major inked MoU on June 22, 2005, had announced that the gram panchayat functionaries of Dhinkia, Gada Kujang, Nuagaon panchayats would not attend the RPDAC meeting. Jagatsinghpur MP Bibhu Tarai (CPI) is also unlikely to attend the meeting as he is out of Orissa, sources said. "Twenty-five members have been invited to RPDAC meeting. If three or four people do not attend, it will have no impact," RDC member P K Mohapatra said hoping people would get a good rehabilitation package.
