Pipe to IOC refineries leaks, alternative used

A leak on a pipeline supplying crude oil to Indian Oil Corp's two refineries in northern India has forced the company to use an alternative pipeline to feed the plants, the state-run firm said on Tuesday. The company has two pipelines to bring crude oil from the west coast to its Mathura refinery that processes 160,000 barrels per day (bpd) and the 240,000-bpd Panipat refinery. The company said both refineries were operating normally, and had enough stocks of crude."The refineries at Mathura and Panipat have adequate stock of crude oil which are being supplemented by supplies through Mundra-Panipat Pipeline," IOC said in a statement.Traders said crude supplies to the refineries may be hit if the pipeline is not repaired within a week to 10 days. The leakage at pipeline was noticed on Sunday."IOC has two parallel pipelines so it can manage for 7-10 days beyond that the crude supplies to the plant might be hit," said an Asian oil trader. The company said heavy rains at the site of the leak in western Rajasthan state had hampered repair work.IOC owns 10 plants in India with combined capacity of 1.2 million bpd.(Reporting by Nidhi Verma)
