The Vadodara Special Operation Group (SOG) on Saturday night arrested one more person in connection with the fake marksheet and medicine label scam.SOG officers said with this arrest, the number of persons in custody has now reached five.SOG Inspector H M Alsika said Surendra Navneetlal Parekh was arrested from Dandia Bazar along with three certificates on the basis of information gleaned from the four previously arrested.He said: "The accused we arrested last night used to do odd jobs at the district courts. But he also supplied fake documents to the people. We have taken him in two-day remand."Police officers said the arrest could prove to be a breakthrough for later investigation into the scam.The scam came to light with the arrest of two persons with a stolen motorcycle and fake registration papers during a routine vehicle check in the Walled City area in the end of June.Accused Kalpesh Sharma and Jignesh Patel revealed that one Praveen Shah, a resident of Panigate, was the kingpin of the racket. Shah, they said, produced fake registration, fake medicine labels for expired medicines, fake marksheets among a host of things, which were later seized from his shop. One Mukund Shah was also named co-accused in the case.
