Hyderabad, Jul 6 (PTI) Congress leaders from Telangana today put forth their demand for a separate state before the Centre-appointed Srikrishna Committee here. The leaders of the ruling party met the panel''s members in three groups and explained the need for formation of a separate state of Telangana. While Ministers, MPs and MLAs formed one group, the Telangana Regional Congress Coordination Committee (TRCCC) and a group of senior leaders comprised the other two. "We told them how the leaders from non-Telangana regions exploited our region," G Sukhender Reddy, MP from Nalgonda, told reporters. "We explained to the committee members that formation of separate Telangana alone would put an end to all the problems," P Prabhakar, another MP, said. The committee members asked the Congress leaders about the argument that Maoists would gain advantage if separate Telangana is formed, but the leaders dismissed the theory, party sources said. The five-member panel, formed early this year to look into all aspects of the Telangana issue, is on a three-day visit to the city since yesterday. It is scheduled to meet with little-known Telangana Praja Party, a group of Right to Information activists and Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Parishad representatives tomorrow.
