Mumbai, Jul 21 (PTI) Filmmaker Vipul Shah of ''Namastey London'' and ''Singh is Kinng'' fame returns to theatre after a gap of 14 years as a presenter of Hindi version of acclaimed Marathi play ''Dhyanimani'' this August. His actress wife Shefali Shah is also making her comeback in the theatre world after 10 long years. "Fourteen years is a long time to be away from something like theatre. But I was always connected to it emotionally and also in these 14 years, I did not get an opportunity or time to do something in this field. But I am glad that I am going to be associated with theatre again," Vipul said here today. "Dhyanimani is one of the most critically acclaimed plays from Marathi theatre. I am going to be presenting this play," he said. Vipul said his wife Shefali wanted to get back to theatre. "I am glad that it is this play that marks our comeback to our first love," he said. Vipul has been a part of four plays before this and intends to be more active now. But what he is more thrilled about is the fact that his wife is going to be performing in this play. "Irrespective of what people might think when I say this, I feel that Shefali is the best actress in the country. I have seen her performance in Gujarati plays and I know for a fact that this play is the best one for her comeback," he said. Shefali, who plays the lead role in the play, started her career with theater. "Then TV happened, then movies, then marriage and then kids. And this is why theatre took a backseat for 10 years. Unlike movies, theatre is an excessively demanding platform. Also in these 10 years, nothing great came my way. But now I am ready to give my 100 per cent to it," she added. The couple approached noted Marathi theatre director Chandrakant Kulkarni, the director of the original Marathi version, and asked him if he is interested in making a Hindi version of it. "This was one of the best plays of its time and for an actress this play is a treat. I couldn''t have thought of a better play for a comeback," she said. .
