Vodafone Group Plc may sell its minority stake of 4.39 percent in Bharti Airtel that is valued at 52 billion rupees ($1.1 billion) at current market price, the Business Standard reported on Monday. The sale will be part of Vodafone's plan to get out of the company's smaller investments in companies across the world, the newspaper said without citing any sources.Officials at Vodafone and Bharti, India's largest mobile operator, could not immediately be reached for a comment. The Business Standard said Vodafone had bought a 10 percent stake in Bharti in 2005, both directly and indirectly, for around $1.5 billion.Vodafone sold half of its stake in Bharti after the British firm entered into a tie-up with India's Essar Group, the newspaper said. The global mobile major holds the remaining stake indirectly through unlisted Bharti Telecom.(Writing by Sumeet Chatterjee; Editing by Ranjit Gangadharan)(For more business news on Reuters India click http://in.reuters.com)
