Wall St up on banks, Dow technicals weak

U.S. stocks rose at the open on Wednesday, boosted by gains in bank shares after a higher earnings outlook from State Street Corp .The Dow Jones industrial average gained 22.48 points, or 0.23 percent, to 9,766.10. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 4.65 points, or 0.45 percent, to 1,032.71. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 13.21 points, or 0.63 percent, to 2,107.09.A chart of the Dow industrials' 50-day moving average broke below its 200-day moving average, generating a "death cross," seen by some technicians as a harbinger of downside pressure.(Editing by Padraic Cassidy)
