Gurgaon, June 23 (PTI) One woman died and her male colleague was injured critically here this evening when a speeding garbage collection truck of Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) hit their two-wheeler from behind. Anita Kataria and Ashish Mudgil, both M-tech students were riding a Honda Activa in Sector 23 when the speeding MCG truck came dangerously close to their vehicle from behind, Gurgaon Police Commissioner S S Deswal said. Alarmed over the truck coming too close, Ashish drove to the left taking the car to the footpath. The truck also chased the two-wheeler on to the footpath and hit the vehicle from behind. It even dragged the two wheeler around 5/6 metres before coming to a halt, injuring Anita and Ashish critically. The passers-by took both of them to a nearby private hospital where the girl succumbed to her wounds, Deswal said. Anita was scheduled to join the Indian Air Force next month. Both Anita and Ashish were M-tech students at a private college in Sector 23, Gurgaon. The police have lodged an FIR against the truck driver and arrested him, added the Commissioner.
