New Delhi, Jul 19 (PTI) Councillors of the ruling BJP and opposition Congress today came together to protest alleged instances of "misbehaviour" by some senior employees of MCD, prompting the Mayor to direct the municipal commissioner to suspend two officials. The corporators disrupted the proceedings of a meeting of the MCD House, claiming that the officials often behave "rudely" with them. The issue was first raised by Inderpuri councillor Suraj Kumar who alleged that the Deputy Commissioner and some other officials of the Karol Bagh zone had misbehaved with him and sealed his shop claiming that it was unauthorised. "My shop was de-sealed after I proved that I was not indulging in any unauthorised activity," Kumar said. The DC also filed an FIR against him following which he was arrested, he said adding, he was freed after furnishing a bail bond. Mayor Prithvi Raj Sawhney directed commissioner K S Mehra to issue suspension orders against Dharamveer Verma, the Deputy Commissioner of Karol Bagh zone and S K Chauhan, Executive Engineer. Several other councillors too complained of misbehaviour by MCD officials. Manju, a councillor from Shahdara (North) zone alleged that during a recent meeting, the zonal executive engineer "misbehaved" with her. The Mayor has ordered an inquiry into the incident. PTI SDG.
