Raipur, Jul 6 (PTI) As four new CRPF Inspector General rank officers have taken charge of anti-Naxal operations in Maoist-affected states, the government has shifted the office of the CRPF Special Director General from here to Kolkata. The Chhatisgarh state capital also hosts the Special Sector headquarters of the CRPF which has deployed close to 58 battalions (58,000 personnel) for anti-Naxal duties along with five battalions of BSF and ITBP each. "The four new IGs have taken charge in Chhattisgarh, Orrisa, West Bengal and Jharkhand to deal exclusively with operations," CRPF chief Vikram Srivastava said. With this new arrangement, the Special DG will coordinate the anti-Naxal operations in all the states from Kolkata while keeping in touch with all the field formations. The new IGs (Operations) will only look after deployment, movement, intelligence and operations of the troops fighting Naxals and will not undertake any administrative duties. Chhattisgarh has recently witnessed maximum casualties of CRPF personnel, with more than 100 troops being killed in Naxalite attacks in the last three months. The worst massacre took place on April six, when 75 personnel of the force were killed in a deadly ambush in Dantewada. Two other CRPF Special DGs are posted at Jammu and Kashmir and the North East.
