Srinagar, June 24 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said his government will take all measures to strengthen the Directorate of Environment and Remote Sensing to utilize the modern space technology for development and good governance in the state. "All measures would be taken to strengthen the Directorate of Environment and Remote Sensing to take best advantage of the modern space technology in the process of development and planning and ensuring good governance in the state, " Omar said. The technology can prove highly beneficial for Planning and Development Department to formulate plans and schemes as per ground realities, he said. Asserting that Remote Sensing and Geo-Informatics programmes would contribute in a big way to solve various problems, the Chief Minister said,"The space application programmes can prove highly effective in identifying villages and areas requiring government attention in public service delivery system and providing basic facilities in different sectors.
