Top officer tells school students about Army life

New Delhi, Jul 21 (PTI) Keen on joining the Armed forces, young students today put a flurry of questions to a top Army General on lives and hardships of the men in uniform. Major General Vikram Puri''s reply to all the queries was simple -- "We need gentleman. people who are good citizens." "Army has a culture and ethos of its own, fun of its own as well as difficulties of its own," he said. Puri, who is Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence staff (Training and Recruitment), was interacting with the students of Vishwa Bharati Public School in Dwarka. The students of the premier school asked Puri a host of questions about the Indian Army, lives of the personnel, their responsibilities etc. The school which held an impressive investiture ceremony today, had invited Puri to interact with students with an aim to encourage them to join the Army in the future. About the ceremony, Puri said that it inculcates sense of organisational bonding and responsibility among students. "The investiture of students for different posts in the school like house captain is an investment for human resource pool. This way our students get to know how to lead," said Aparajita Yadav, the school principal.
