New Delhi, Jul 26 (PTI) The Delhi High Court today dismissed a petition filed by a senior police officer from Punjab who along with some other colleagues is facing trial here for murder of three persons in 1994, seeking a direction to CBI to supply him the documents in which the statement of some Punjab police men was reordered. Justice Dhingra dismissed the petition filed by Punjab Police Director (Vigilance) Sumedh Singh Saini and other co-accused and upheld the trial court''s April 1 order. Filing the petition, Saini claimed CBI had recorded the statements of some personnel but their names have been deliberately dropped by the investigating agency from the witness list as they have stated in favour of him in the case. CBI had filed a chargesheet against Saini, retired Superintendent of Police S S Sandhu and former DSP of Mohali Paramjit Singh and Inspector Balbir Chand Tiwari for allegedly killing businessman Vinod Kumar, his brother-in-law Ashok Kumar and their driver Mukhtiyar Singh. According to CBI, the victims were allegedly abducted by the accused from Ludhiana on March 15, 1994. The accused have denied their involvement in the case. The case was transferred to CBI for investigation by Punjab and Haryana High Court on March 24, 1994. The probe agency had filed the chargesheet in the matter in May 2000. Since no charges could be framed against the accused despite 41 hearings at an Ambala court, the matter was transferred to Delhi by the Supreme Court in 2004. The court in Delhi had framed charges of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping against accused Saini and others in January, 2007. Saini and other accused have challenged the trial court''s order on the charges, which is pending before the High Court. PTI PNM.
